Essay

The first studio work is definitely stressed me up as we were given this task right after the first studio workshop. First time trying to draw my own portrait with hatching technique and uppercase architecture lettering which I never try before. Through project 1a I actually get to know myself better by  drawing  my own portrait and screw out a lots of words to describe myself in terms of background, my possible future achievement and my possible contribution as a planner. And creating my personal logo to represent myself and my profession in the future. I feel contented when I saw my work done although it may not look that perfect and professional like the others and I feel happy that I am exposed to new things. Project 2 make me realized that the natural and man-made structure is coexist in the built environment. Hatching technique is apply in sketching the natural structure and apply the effect of shadow cast by the sun to make it looks more natural and livable. While the man-made structure is basically inspired by the shape or form exist in the natural element and we present it with water color medium which required a lot of patient and techniques for it. Project 3a, the sculpture allows me to represent and express my idea in the other form by using different materials, colors to make the sculpture. Through Project 3b, object connection, I learned that we should consider about the human anthropometrics and ergonomics when we design something and have fun working with my course mate to construct the model. Then we present our drawings in a more technical way by drawing the elevation and the perspective drawing in project 4.Presentation drawing help ones to present his idea and gives others a better understanding through the drawing and the visual stimulation. Learned how to observed and feel the existing neighborhood element through the site visit and presented in presentation drawing. Project 6,a project which combine 7 different majors into a group and through this project I learned that group coordination and cooperation is important to achieve the ultimate goal as we don’t work individually in real life. I learned to voice out my opinion and too respect and accept other’s opinion through discussion. And there are a lots of things that we have to consider in designing and constructing the model and every one of us contribute our part according to our major and too learn from the other major. There is a lots of conflict and argument but still all of us worked together as a team for one common goal. Project 7, the exhibition and project 8, performance night strengthen the bonding between the planning course mate as we spending a lots of time and effort in decorating for our exhibition booth and worked together as a team and also practicing for the performance ,rehearsal ,designing the banner ,flags and make our own costumes and weapons to represent our kingdom-Langkasuka.

Project 1 a Stewardship

First time drawing my self portrait and i am really happy for it.Spending a lots of time in sketching the self portrait and architectural lettering. 

Project 1 b Personal logo

This is my personal logo which made up of alphabet 'M'

which can be broken down into 'L' to represent my name.The circle around the alphabet gives a meaning of universal symbolise that everyone of us are link together.

Project 2a Natural structure

This is a plant named snake plant and it was choosen as the object of drawing for these assignment due to its unique characteristic that is different tones of green from lighter green to dark green are coexist in a single leaf.

Project 2b Man Made structure

This is the drawing of  bus stop found in front of our HBP school coloured with water colour.

Project 3a Free form sculpture

This is my sculpture i made based on the concept of concrete jungle by using polystyrene,wire and scraps of paper as people nowadays are living in concrete building and hardly take a break to enjoy the mother nature.

Project 3b Object connection

This is the L shape chair model we produce by using the mounting board ,ice cream stick and polystyrene.The main focus of the design is the mosaic pattern on the table top.

Project 5 a Neighbourhood Element Existing Condition

 This is the layout plan of Bayan Residences,Relau which consist of key plan,location plan and site plan.The basic facilities and infrastructure which available in Baya Residences are parking lots especially for disabled,playground,kindergarden,nursery,sewage treatment plant and kolej and etc.The vehicular movement,sun path and the wind movement is shown in the site plan too.

Project 5 b Neighbourhood Elements Proposed Improvement

This is my improvement proposal mainly on  facilities available in Bayan Residences.The main focus is that there are no signboard indicating that the site is Bayan Residences and the residences too did not really realise that the place where they lived is called Bayan Residences.The street lighting is not sufficient to light up the area.The facilities are not being well taken care of and therefore failed to perform its function.

Project 6 Amphitheater Stage

These are the three A1 presentation done by our group ,that is group 3,Sky Surfer Company.

The design concept for our amphitheater stage is paper which based on the idea that a piece of paper looks blank at the first glance but on the other side it represents possibilities.

This is the prototype model we made to gives us a better idea on what will our stage look like and the general idea on the construction technique use for the actual model making.  

Finally ,this is our actual amphitheater stage  model with scale 1:5 look like.Our group members have spend a lots of time and effort in producing this model.

Project 7 Exhibition

These are the booth and boards showing the selected studio works from project 1 to 5 from planning students.And a small descale city model was done and display in the display boxes we made our own.

Different sizes of DIY rectangular boxes was hang up and all the planning students and lectures names was written on the boxes.

Project 8 Awards and performance night

Dance performance by the female representatives of planning group.The steps an movement are inspired 

 by the Langkasuka-the lost kingdom which has the characteristic of Siam.While the male representatives playing the cup games by beating the cups with the table surface to produce sound with rhythm. The costume was self made with our creativity.
